As their name might suggest, Input Devices perform the quite specific functions of sending information into a computer system. ordinarily, these are external, peripheral devices which are connected to a computer system by a cable or wireless medium.
Input Devices are those parts of a computer system that act as an interface between the system and it’s user, allowing the user to ‘input’ information or data into the computer for processing.
“In computing, an input device is a peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system such as a computer or information appliance. Examples of input devices include keyboards, mouse, scanners, digital cameras and joysticks.”
